Bulgarian president appoints caretaker gov't

Xinhua, January 26, 2017 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev signed a decree on the appointment of the country's caretaker government with effect from Friday, his press office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The caretaker government headed by Ognyan Gerdjikov, a law professor and former Speaker of the country's Parliament, will replace the GERB party-led coalition government that resigned in mid-November last year.

The GERB-led coalition government resigned after the opposition-backed Radev won the presidential election.

This will be the fifth Bulgarian caretaker government during the last 25 years. Endit
