The death toll in Wednesday's attack by Al-Shabaab militants on a hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu has risen to 15 while 15 others were injured, a senior official said.

Internal Security Minister Abdirizak Omar Mohamed told journalists in Mogadishu that security officers had ended the siege at the Dayah Hotel and shot dead "all the attackers." (Somali-Attack)

ROME -- The number of victims in the avalanche that crushed a ski resort last week has risen to at least 17, Italian media reported on Tuesday.

The official death toll had been updated to 14 by the Italian civil protection department coordinating rescue efforts on Tuesday morning. After that, at least three more bodies were pulled out from the ruins of the hotel throughout the day. (Italy-Avalanche)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- An Indian military trooper was killed, while ten others were rescued alive, but injured after an avalanche hit their camp Wednesday in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said.

The avalanche struck the army camp near Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district, about 80 km north of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. (India-Avalanche)

GAZA -- Israeli tanks stationed on the borders with central Gaza Strip struck an Islamic Hamas movement military post with shells after gunmen fired at Israeli army forces, security sources in Gaza said Tuesday.

The sources said that the shells hit a post that belongs to Hamas armed wing after the Israeli army announced that gunmen from Gaza fired at its forces patrolling the borderline area between central Gaza Strip and Israel. (Israel-Gaza Strip)

ATHENS -- A 15-year-old Roma boy in northern Greece has admitted sexually assaulting and killing another Roma boy, triggering an outcry against government neglect of the Roma community.

The 6-year-old victim, who was deaf, was found missing on Sunday. His dead body was discovered on Monday near his home. The teenager, who is also deaf, was detained a few hours later and according to police sources, confessed to the killing. (Greece-Assault) Endi
