EU announces funding for Polish motorway stretch

Xinhua, January 24, 2017 Adjust font size:

The European Union has announced that it would offer 315 million euros (338 million U.S. dollars) from the bloc's cohesion funds to finance a stretch of the Polish A1 motorway, the Polish Press Agency reported Monday.

The funding will be used for the motorway section between Czestochowa and Pyrzowice, a part of the Baltic-Adriatic transport corridor.

According to the European Commission, or the EU executive body, smooth connections across the EU help local economies maintain competitiveness and bring tangible and positive changes to everyday lives of citizens.

The A1 motorway is a key north-south route across Poland and is located along the E75 international route and in the European Corridor VI. So far Poland has completed 430 km of the motorway.

The total planned length of the A1 is 586 km. The missing Czestochowa-Pyrzowice stretch should be completed by the middle of 2019. Endit
