Afghan spy agency busts 3 terror cells in southern province

The Afghan security service has busted three terrorist cells in the southern restive province of Kandahar, said the National Directorate for Security (NDS) on Sunday.
"Personnel of NDS have busted three terror networks of Taliban outfit during recent operations in surrounding areas of Kandahar province," NDS, the country's national intelligence agency, said in a statement.
The dismantlement of these cells have led to the arrest of 16 suspects, including three Taliban local leaders named Sayyed Mohammad, Raz Mohammad and Mullah Mirza Mohammad, the statement added.
The arrested were involved in series of attacks, targeted killings of government workers and planting landmines in the province, 450 km south of national capital Kabul, it said.
The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.
Earlier in January, the NDS captured 31 members of Haqqani militant group and brought them to justice in eastern Khost province.
The Haqqani network was designated as terrorist group by the United States in 2012. Endit
