S. African stocks close in red ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) was lower on Friday with investors cautious ahead of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
The South Africa rand was trading at R13.54 to the U.S. dollar, R16.68 to the British pound and R14.47 to the euro.
At the close of session, the all share was down 0.7 percent at 52,532.26 and the blue-chip top 40 lost 0.7 percent. Resources shed 0.55 percent, gold fall 0.18 percent to sell at 1203.01 U.S. dollars an ounce, silver up 0.24 percent to 17.02 U.S. dollars an ounce, and platinum gaining 1.02 percent to sell at 968.33 U.S. dollars an ounce.
Anglo American dropped 1.61 percent to R215.51. Kumba Iron Ore shares slid 6.56 percent to R154.01.
In golds Sibanye was 0.74 percent up at R27.25.
Steinhoff International was down 2.50 percent to R70.51.
Barclays Africa was 1.21 percent lower at R163. Firstrand shed 0.64 percent to R51.6. Endit
