Brazil's Botafogo sign Cameroonian forward Joel

Xinhua, January 20, 2017 Adjust font size:

Brazilian Serie A club Botafogo have announced the signing of Cameroonian forward Diederrick Joel as they reinforce their squad for this year's Copa Libertadores.

The 23-year-old Joel joins the Rio de Janeiro outfit on a one-year loan from Brazilian top-flight rivals Cruzeiro, Botafogo football manager Antonio Lopes told reporters on Thursday.

Joel spent last year on loan at Santos, where he scored seven times in 35 appearances.

He is the eighth addition to Botafogo's squad since December, joining Gatito Fernandez, Jonas, Gilson, Joao Paulo, Montillo, Guilherme and Roger.

Botafogo qualified for the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition, by finishing fifth in last year's Serie A standings. Endit
