The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has called on diplomats accredited to Zambia to encourage business persons from their countries to establish joint ventures with their Zambian counterparts for mutual benefit.

Lungu said when he received letters of credence from four ambassadors that Zambia has formulated attractive investment policies which have made the country a preferred investment destination in the southern African region. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The Zambian government has declared an invasion of army worms in eight of the country's 10 provinces as having been stabilized.

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) said the country has not recorded any new incidences of army worms in the last few days as the situation was now under control.

Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe have experienced an outbreak of army worms that have ravaged planted maize fields. (Times of Zambia)

-- The family of late Zambian President Frederick Chiluba has asked a High Court to restrain the country's anti-corruption agency from disposing the property of the late president as there was no fair hearing.

Properties belonging to the former leader were recently forfeited to the State following a Supreme Court judgment that corruption was involved in the acquisition of the properties comprising blocks of flats in Lusaka, the country's capital. (Daily Nation) Endit
