One police officer was killed and three others wounded in an attack in southeastern province of Diyarbakir, Dogan News Agency reported on Monday.

An explosive was detonated when a police vehicle was passing the area near Dicle University campus in Diyarbakir's historic Sur district.

The attack happened on the same day that the district's first female police chief started her duty.

The district was heavily damaged in armed clashes between Turkish security forces and the Kurdistan Workers' Party militants between December 2015 and March 2016. Endit
