China League One football club Shijiazhuang Ever Bright announced here on Monday that they have signed Brazilian striker Carlos Adriano from South Korean side FC Seoul, in a move to sharpen their attacking front.
Adriano, who arrived Friday in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China' s Hebei Province, will earn 3 million dollars a season, an Ever Bright source told Xinhua, but the source did not disclose how much the club had paid to FC Seoul.
The 29-year-old scored 45 goals in 62 appearances for FC Seoul in all competitions in the past two years. Major highlights came during the last season, when the former Palmeiras forward set a new single-season record with 35 goals in South Korea and tied the Asian Football Confederation Champions League record by netting 13 goals for the K League Classic champions.
"We thought long and hard about Adriano' s transfer, but since the player wanted to move to the club that offered him a better deal, we decided to accept his request for transfer," FC Seoul said in a statement.
Earlier, Adriano posted a photo on Facebook of him wearing Shijiazhuang' s training kit and holding a scarf of the Chinese second division side. This is the Brazilian attacker's second stint in China, having played for Dalian Shide from 2011 to 2013.
Ever Bright was relegated at the end of last season after scoring only 28 goals in 30 Chinese Super League matches. With newcomer manager Afshin Ghotb at the helm, the club says they hope Adriano can contribute to a comeback for the team. Endit
