The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Saturday:

-- Africa's richest man said he intended to expand investment in Zambia's other sectors of the economy.

Aliko Dangote, chief executive officer of Dangote Group of Companies, has already invested in a cement manufacturing plant and a thermal power plant in Zambia's Masaiti district in Copperbelt Province. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government has expressed concern over the levels of inequalities in the country and has started taken measures to tackle the problem.

Speaking at the launch of the Inequality Week, Ministry of Development Planning Permanent Secretary Auxillia Ponga said inequality has reached alarming levels. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia has partnered with Malawi and Zimbabwe to curb possibility of spread of army worms and other pests at border towns.

Army worms have attacked maize fields in the three neighboring countries.

Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) coordinator Patrick Kangwa revealed that army worms have spread to all Zambia's 10 provinces from the initial six, with 172,000 hectares of planted maize attacked. (Daily Nation)

-- Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming said the China-Zambia traditional friendship not only remained unshakable but became more consolidated in the 52 years of its existence.

The Chinese envoy said the high levels visits between the two countries had promoted the bilateral trust and cooperation in various areas.
