Unemployment in Algeria increases to 10.5 pt

Unemployment rate in Algeria slightly increased by 0.6 percent to 10.5 percent in Sept. 2016 from 9.8 percent in April of the same year, the National Statistics Office said in a report on Saturday.

The source noted that Algeria counts a potential workforce of 12.1 million people, of which 10.84 million people are employed until Sept. 2016, compared to 10.89 million in April 2016. The report specified that 1.27 million people are unemployed until Sept. 2016.

According to the same source, the unemployment rate among people aged between 16 and 24 increased to 26.7 percent in Sept. 2016 against 24.7 percent six months earlier.

Unemployment among women hit the highest level in ten years, reaching 20 percent, while men unemployment rate in the same period reached 8.1 percent. Endit
