2 dead, 5 injured in Istanbul building collapse

Xinhua, January 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

A six-storey apartment building collapsed in Istanbul on Friday, killing at least two and wounded five others, local media reported.

One of the dead is a six-year-old child, NTV said, noting the building located in the district of Zeytinburnu was abandoned a year ago and it caved in when people were walking on the sidewalk.

On NTV's live footage, ambulances and fire-brigade crews were seen at the scene, and rescue teams were trying to determine whether there are people trapped under the rubble.

The cause of the collapse is not immediately clear, NTV said. Endit
