The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Friday.

--The Ethiopian Roads Authority has signed contract agreements with seven contractors for the construction of eight road projects at a cost of 6.5 billion birr (288 million U.S dollars).

Five of the contractors are indigenous, while the remaining two are Chinese firms. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

--Government pledges support to activities of Interfaith Forum. Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen has positively noted efforts by the Ethiopian Interfaith Forum to help promote unity through staging popular discussions on key socio-economic themes.

The Deputy Prime Minister spoke on the closing session of a two days consultative forum organized by the Ethiopian Interfaith Forum.

--Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed a joint venture agreement to establish a company that will manage the newly built Ethio-Djibouti railway.
