-- President Jacob Zuma on Thursday defended outgoing AU Commission chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma's leadership credentials and said her becoming ANC leader would not pose a problem.

"If the ANC says we think that we can give you this responsibility, that is not a concern at all so far as the Zuma family is concerned," Zuma said during an interview broadcast on three SABC radio stations.

-- Insurance companies are well equipped to deal with claims arising out of natural disasters, such as wildfires and floods, says Dawie Buys, insurance technical adviser at the South African Insurance Association (Saia).

Insurers will in all likelihood see a surge in claims resulting from wildfires in the Western Cape that have been raging for more than a week now, as well as floods in parts of Mpumalanga and Gauteng, following heavy rainfall in these areas, which caused significant damage to houses, buildings and infrastructure. --President Jacob Zuma has ruled out any notion that he may seek a third term when the ANC holds its elective conference in December. He said there's a general understanding that the party should not create two centres of power.

The president also said anyone, in good standing, can stand for any position in the ANC. He was speaking to three SABC radio stations -- Motsweding FM, Thobela FM and Lesedi FM on Thursday. (South African Broadcasting Corporation) Endit
