Russia's eastern military district considers setting up anti-UAV units

Xinhua, January 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

Russia's eastern military district discussed Thursday setting up new military units focused on anti-UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) defense.

The district's media service said improving defense against UAVs with the establishment of focused military units was among the topics discussed at the military missile conference held Thursday in Amur Oblast.

The meeting also worked on a plan for massive tactical drills involving air defense forces in Buryatia.

Participants included commanders of missile defense units of the eastern military district and chiefs of air defense forces based in Russia's Republic of Buryatia, Zabaykalsky Krai, Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai.

Set up in 2010 and headquartered in the east of Khabarovsk region, the eastern military district covers the former Far East military district and part of the former Siberian military district. Endi
