Turkish police have identified the alleged Islamic State (IS) militant who attacked a famous nightclub at the heart of Istanbul as Uzbek national Abdulkadir Masharipov, Turkish Hurriyet News reported on Sunday.

The attacker arrived in Istanbul from the Central Anatolian province of Konya on Dec. 15, 2016 to stage the attack on the New Year's Day.(Turkey-IS Attacker)

PARIS -- Five Portuguese nationals were killed and 27 others were injured when their bus crashed off a highway in the eastern French department of Saone-et-Loire early Sunday, local press reported.

The 40-seat bus was transporting Portuguese tourists to Switzerland when it crashed off the Central Europe Atlantic Road dubbed the "road of death," at around 4:30 a.m., Franceinfo reported. (France-Traffic Accident)

JAKARTA -- Nearly 3,000 people have been displaced as floods hit Nagan Raya district of Aceh province in western Indonesia, a disaster agency official said on Sunday evening.

Waters of two rivers overflowed banks and submerged several villages in Tripa Makmur and Darul Makmur sub-districts by up to two meters high, said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management agency. (Indonesia-Floods)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 20 people were killed and 29 others injured in two separated road accidents in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Sunday, local Urdu media reported.

BAGHDAD -- Up to 11 people were killed and 25 others wounded on Sunday in a suicide car bomb explosion in eastern part of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, a police source said.

The attack occurred in the morning when a suicide bomber detonated his car bomb at a checkpoint at a busy intersection Jamila wholesale vegetable market in Sadr City neighborhood, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Car Bomb Attack) Endi
