-- Uniting the African National Congress is not a pipe dream, secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said on Thursday.

-- The year 2016 was a particularly trying one for investors, but 2017 can be different as long as they focus on returns over the long term and avoid making costly mistakes, Anet Ahern, CEO of PSG Asset Management, said on Thursday.

"Research has proven time and again that markets earn better returns than the average investor. The difference is due to investor behaviour that destroys value, such as greed and fear," Ahern said. (Fin24)

-- The African National Congress Youth League said on Thursday that it was concerned about the country's separated education systems, saying that private schools were given preferential treatment in contrast to public schools.
