Slight rise in Ibex-35 stock exchange

Xinhua, January 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Spain's Ibex-35 stock market saw a slight recovery in share prices on Thursday to go some way towards overturning Wednesday's losses and maintaining the positive tonic at the start of a New Year in which shares have climbed by 1.46 percent.

Although Spain's energy companies again had a poor day on the stock market, the session saw share values rise for the Ibex-35 to close on 9,488.20 points on another day marked by a low level of volatility.

One of the main reasons for the positive day was the performance of telecommunications giant, Telefonica, whose shares rose by 2.12 percent, while Arcerlormittal with an increase of 3,74 percent and IAG with a 3,88 percent increase were the big winners on the day.

Banco Santander, BBVA and Banco Popular also had moderate gains, while Banco Polular which was the worst performer in 2016, so far has the highest rise in share price in 2017.

Meanwhile the Risk Premium rose by 0.08 percent to 122 points, while interest on the 10-year-bond continues to climb slowly to close on 1.47 percent. Endit
