The following are highlights of South African major news outlets on Thursday:

-- In the latest slew of racist Facebook rants, a Limpopo man has called black beachgoers cockroaches.

A post put on the social networking site described black beachgoers on crowded beaches in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban, as cockroaches who stole money to go on holiday. (News24)

-- South African President Jacob Zuma and the ruling ANC are an obstacle to progress in economic transformation, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) said in a statement.

This came ahead of the ANC's upcoming annual statement to be delivered on January 8 in Soweto. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the trade union said the ANC has not done enough to transform the economy over the past 22 years. (Fin24) Enditem
