Danish police said on Monday that the daughter of impeached South Korean President Park Geun-hye's longtime confidante Choi Soon-sil was attending a hearing at a local court after her arrest on Sunday.
Chung Yoo-Ra was arrested by the North Jutland Police at 7:54 p.m. local time after a tip from a journalist said that the woman wanted by the police of South Korea for economic crime was staying at a certain address in Aalborg, Denmark, according to a press release by the police.
Three other adults and a child were also at the address, but none of them were wanted by the police, according to the press release.
Police communication advisor Simon Gosvig confirmed that Chung was attending a local hearing that started at 2 p.m., and an update will be issued after the hearing.
Upon her arrest, Chung confessed that she was aware that the South Korean authorities wanted her for questioning, according to the police, adding that she was in Denmark for horse racing.
The North Jutland Police is in dialogue with the director of public prosecutions who is awaiting the final request of extradition from the South Korean authorities.
Choi is charged with using her friendship with President Park to extort funds from large businesses and meddling in state affairs though she has no government position and security clearance.
Chung is alleged to have received illegal favors when entering a prestigious university. Endit
