Xinhua, January 2, 2017 Adjust font size:

Two Moroccan nationals were among those killed in a nightclub attack early Sunday in Istanbul, Moroccan authorities said on Monday.

The death of the two Moroccan nationals has been confirmed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said in a statement.

Four other Moroccans were injured in the attack, the statement added.

A gunman stormed Reina nightclub and shot at hundreds of people gathering there for New Year celebrations, leaving at least 39 dead and over 60 others injured. Many of the victims were foreign nationals.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the carnage in a statement posted on social media.

Turkish Police have launched a manhunt for the gunman, who remains on the run after fleeing the nightclub in chaos. Endit
