CBA roundup: Yi-absent Guangdong lose to Liaoning to snap 17-game winning streak

Without two key players Yi Jianlian and Donald Sloan, visiting Guangdong were overwhelmed 133-110 by Liaoning in the 23rd round of the 2016-2017 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league regular season action on Friday.

Having won 17 games in a run, Guangdong lost their winning touch in Shenyang as they managed to finish the first quarter at 26 all but trailed by 21 points in the second and never was able to catch up.

Liaoning players shot a total of 22 three-pointers in revenge for the loss in their last encounter. Lester Hudson and Shavlik Randolph combined for 63 points.

Three-time league champions Beijing lost to Shangdong 101-89 at home, suffering their third straight loss. Shangdong's Ding Yanyuhang earned a game-high 33 points.

League leaders Shanghai were challenged by Guangzhou in the first half as the home team led Shanghai 50-40 but clinched the victory 100-93 in the end. Jimmer Fredette, Guerschon Yabusele and Liu Xiaoyu combined for 83 points.

Elsewhere on Friday, Bayi beat Aolong 87-80, Tianjing defeated Shanxi 120-113, Jilin lost to Shenzhen, 110-102, Xinjiang romped over Zhengjiang 135-109, hosts Tongxi lost to Sichuan 105-93, Fujian stunned Jiangsu 116-106 and Guangsha hammered Qingdao 114-105. Endit
