Xinhua, December 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

A 76-year-old man lost his life in northern Greece on Friday amid a cold snap that hit much of the country since Wednesday.

The victim was fatally injured by a door that crashed down in a factory at the outskirts of Komotini city which was torn off by strong winds, according to the local fire brigade.

On Thursday, the dead body of a 53-year-old fisherman was recovered near the Corinth canal, about 100 km west of Athens.

The incident occurred as a large part of Greece, especially in northern Greece and mountainous regions, was blanketed with snow.

Snowfall and gusty winds have caused disruptions in traffic, mostly in regional roads, and ferries remain docked at ports.

According to Greece's meteorological service, the cold front will start receding from Saturday. Endit
