Tokyo shares slip in morning on weak U.S. stocks, stronger yen

Tokyo shares fell Thursday morning on weak U.S. stocks overnight as well as the stronger yen against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 190.79 points, or 0.98 percent, from Wednesday to 19,210.93.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 15.57 points, or 1.01 percent, to 1,521.23.

Decliners were led by iron and steel, marine transportation and bank issues. Endit
