Belgium foils six attack attempts in two years

Xinhua, December 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Belgium has successfully foiled six attack attempts in the past two years, local media reported on Tuesday.

"Since November 2014, we have been able to defeat no fewer than six attacks, and this in close collaboration with the intelligence services," head of the Brussels Federal Judicial Police Eric Jacobs said, quoted by two Belgian newspapers.

According to Jacobs, one of the biggest problems for his services is the processing of raw information.

"We have been dealing with a lot of news and reports since the attacks in Brussels," he said.

Given the increase in the volume of files, a large proportion of the personnel of the judicial police in Brussels was mobilized for handling terrorism-related files, he added. Endit
