Tokyo shares closed flat Tuesday on lack of fresh trading clues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 6.42 points or 0.03 percent from Monday at 19,403.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.92 points or 0.12 percent lower at 1,536.22.

Gainers were led by rubber product and marine transportation issues, while decliners were led by real estate, and pulp and paper issues.

The day's turnover was around 1,835.4 billion yen (15.64 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
