Tokyo shares regain ground in morning on weaker yen

Tokyo shares regained some ground Tuesday morning on the weaker yen against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 55.23 points, or 0.28 percent, from Monday to 19,451.87.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.67 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,541.81.

Gainers were led by bank, pharmaceutical, and rubber product issues. Endit
