Lao Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare has been making efforts to supply a sufficient labor force to meet the high demand of the market, amounting to 143,230 workers for 2017. The ministry plans to create a database on the labor market to make sure that there is a balance between the demand and supply of laborers and also to help local workers access the labor market, Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Khampheng Xaysompheng said at an annual nationwide meeting on technical labor and social welfare held Monday in capital Vientiane.
The ministry will also control the unemployment rate at about two percent, the minister was quoted by Lao state-run news agency KPL as saying, adding that the plan has been made in line with the eighth five-year plan of socio-economic development to materialize the resolution of the Party congress.
According to the labor and social welfare sector of Laos, over the first 10 months of 2016, the sector has provided jobs for 2,468 people and exported 45,768 labors to work abroad in commercial agriculture, industry and services. Enditem
