Seaman goes missing onboard ship off Greece's Milos island

Xinhua, December 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

A rescue operation was underway on Friday to locate a seaman who went missing onboard a Greek ferry off Milos island, the Greek Coast Guard announced.

The 34-year-old crew member of "Elyros" was last seen leaving his cabin. The ship had left Crete island and reached her destination at Piraeus port.

Ship board search yielded negative results and Coast Guard vessels assisted by two helicopters were continuing searches in the sea amid harsh weather conditions with winds blowing up to eight on the Beaufort scale.

All vessels transiting in the area were notified to be on the look-out of the missing seafarer. Endit
