The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Friday.

--Ethiopian athlete Miruts Yifter, winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics, has passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, according to the Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF).

Miruts, also known as "the Shifter," won an historic 5,000m and 10,000m double at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/EBC)

--People detained for unlawful acts that led to the declaration of the State of Emergency across Ethiopia have now denounced violence and vowed to rally others in support of development activities nationwide.

--Some 67 Ethiopian nationals who were in jail in Lebanon returned home on Thursday, said the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

--Preparations of regulations and guidelines have been completed to implement the agreement reached with various countries on overseas employment, said the Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA).
