German recruitment continues to rise in Dec.: data

Xinhua, December 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

German companies' willingness to recruit continued to increase in December, the Ifo research institute said on Thursday.

The Ifo employment barometer index rose to 111.8 points in December from 111.1 points in November.

The barometer rose in all four branches including construction, service, manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing sectors. It even hit a new record high in the service sector and construction, the Munich-based think tank said.

"The number of jobs continues to rise unabated and there is no end to the employment boom in sight," the report noted.

The Ifo Employment Barometer is based on about 9,500 monthly responses from businesses in manufacturing, construction, wholesaling, retailing and the service sectors.

The surveyed companies are asked to report their employment plans for the coming three months. Endit
