Germany's benchmark DAX index closed up

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday added 3.90 points, or 0.03 percent, and closed at 10,468.64 points.

Ahead of the Christmas holidays there were few market news and the stock market lacked stimulation, trading getting thinner.

DAX index fluctuated in a very narrow range. However, with a slightly gain it marked the fifth consecutive gain Wednesday.

German carmaker Volkswagen gained 1.87 percent.

Deutsche Borse lost 1.43 percent, followed by Adidas and Lufthansa. Endit
