German industry companies invest record high in environment in 2014

Enterprises in German industry, excluding construction sector, invested a new record high in environment in 2014, official data showed on Wednesday.

According to the Federal Statistical Office Destatis, a total of 7.9 billion euros (8.2 billion dollars) were invested in tangible fixed assets for environmental protection which helps to reduce, prevent or eliminate emissions or to use resources more carefully.

Compared to 2013, the environmental investments in 2014 rose by 5.7 percent, representing 426 million euros more, Destatis reported.

Destatis also noted that 7.9 billion euros accounted for 10.3 percent of all investments made by the enterprises in 2014. (1 euro=1.04 U.S. dollars) Endit
