A van which lost control ran into an assembly of school children in Nigeria's northeastern state of Gombe, killing 12 and injuring 19 others, local police said on Wednesday.
Gombe State police spokesman Ahmed Usman told Xinhua the incident occurred Tuesday during an annual religious procession by school children in Malam Sidi Town, located 20 kilometers away from Gombe, the state capital. (Nigeria-Children)

BERLIN -- German police is searching nationwide for a 23-year-old man under suspect after a lorry ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday night, killing 12 people and injuring many others.

MEXICO CITY -- Twenty six people were killed in a fireworks market explosion near Mexico City on Tuesday, said State of Mexico's chief prosecutor Alejandro Gomez.
Gomez raised the toll of the blast from the previous nine deaths, according to local television.

KUALA LUMPUR -- One pilot was killed while three officers were injured in a plane crash on Wednesday at a Malaysian air force base in Butterworth in the northern Penang state, the Star reported on Wednesday.

ANKARA -- Four Turkish soldiers were killed and another 15 were wounded Wednesday during clashes with Islamic State (IS) militants in Northern Syria's al-Bab region, Turkish General Staff stated.
