Portuguese PM to visit India next month

Xinhua, December 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa will visit India in January next year to boost bilateral ties, the External Affairs Ministry said.

Prime Minister Antonio Costa will be visiting India on a state visit from January 6 to 12, 2017, on an invitation extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry said Tuesday.

"Several MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit that would set the agenda for India-Portugal relations going forward," the ministry said in a statement.

Prime Minister Costa, who was born in Lisbon, has his roots in India. His father Orlando da Costa came from the western Indian state of Goa, which was a former Portuguese colony. Endit
