Tokyo shares edge down in morning ahead of BOJ decision

Tokyo shares closed slightly lower by break Tuesday morning ahead of the results of the Bank of Japan's two-day policy meeting due later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 5.23 points, or 0.03 percent, from Monday to 19,386.37.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.22 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,545.84.

Decliners were led by mining, securities and insurance issues. Endit
