Nepali president, PM meet senior Chinese official on closer ties

Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have met with visiting senior Chinese official Liu Qibao separately, with both sides reiterating commitments to promoting bilateral relations.

Ties between China and Nepal have achieved continuous and steady development since the two countries established diplomatic relations, said Liu, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee's Publicity Department.

Not long ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping reached important consensus with Nepali Prime Minister Dahal, mapping out the direction of the advancement of bilateral ties, Liu said.

China is willing to make joint efforts with Nepal to implement the two leaders' consensus, expand bilateral pragmatic cooperation, and figure out the common destiny of the two countries, he said.

The CPC stands ready to enhance inter-party cooperation with political parties of Nepal, and promote the development of ties between the two countries, he added.

Bhandari said while meeting with Liu on Sunday that the Nepali side pays high attention to advancing ties with China and will continue to deepen friendly neighborhood between the two countries and promote the level of Nepali-Chinese relations.

Dahal, who met Liu on Monday afternoon, said the Nepali government will stick to the one-China policy and push forward various cooperation programs with China solidly.

Nepal's political parties expect to conduct closer exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and push the Nepali-Chinese relations forward, Dahal added.

Liu, who headed a CPC delegation, arrived here on Sunday.

During the visit, Liu attended the ceremony of the release of the Nepali edition of Chinese President Xi's book "The Governance of China" and inaugurated the seventh China Festival in the Nepali capital. Endit
