An explosive device ripped through a police station in central the capital Damascus on Friday, injuring one policeman, state news agency SANA reported.

An eight-year-old girl entered the police station, holding the bomb, when outsiders remotely detonated it, said the report, adding that the girl died instantly.

It added that the assailants used the little girl, who entered the station, claiming that she was lost.

The capital has for long been calm with no explosions, but it was the first time when bombers used a girl to carry out the bombing. Endit
