House fire kills 6 family members in Vietnam

Xinhua, December 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

A fire broke out at a two-storey residential house in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City on Friday early morning, killing six people in a family and injuring four others.

The six victims included the small house's owner Tran Anh Thang, 47, from northern Bac Giang province, and three children. The four people were injured after jumping from the second storey to the ground, local police of the city's District 3 said.

Thang opened a café in the house's first storey and leased the second storey to some local people.

A total of 2,872 fires and explosions broke out across Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year, killing 115 people and injuring 258 others, said the country's Fire Prevention and Fighting Department.

The accidents also caused property losses of some 1,213 billion Vietnamese dong (54.4 million U.S. dollars). Endit
