France says causes of EgyptAir crash still under investigation

Xinhua, December 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

French Foreign Ministry on Thursday said investigation into the EgyptAir flight MS804 crash en route from Paris to Cairo "will continue in order to determine the exact causes of the crash."

As has been the case since that tragedy, "France and its experts remain at the disposal of the appropriate Egyptian authorities to contribute to this investigation," the Quai d'Orsay said in a statement.

Earlier on Thursday, Egypt's investigation committee unveiled that traces of explosives had been found on the remains of some victims, adding the report was sent to prosecutor-general's office.

"France hopes that the transfer of this report to the Egyptian prosecutor-general's office will open the way to returning the victims' remains to their families as quickly as possible," the ministry added.

On May 19, 2016, the flight MS804, an Airbus 320, crashed en route from Paris to Cairo, killing all the 66 passengers on board, most of them Egyptians and French. Endit
