-- The 2017 budget of 7.298 trillion naira (23 billion U.S. dollars) presented by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly on Wednesday will be funded more by non-oil revenues.

President Buhari said the budget proposal was based on a benchmark of 42.5 dollars per barrel and an oil production estimate of 2.2 million barrels per day with an average exchange rate of 305 naira to the U.S. dollar. (Daily Trust)

-- The Presidency on Wednesday summoned top Sports Ministry officials and their Nigeria Football Federation counterpart to the Presidential Villa, following a protest by members of the senior women national team, Super Falcons, at the National Assembly complex.

The Super Falcons, who beat Cameroon 1-0 to win the African Women Nations Cup in Yaoundé early this month, have been protesting the non-payment of their emoluments, including match allowances dating back to eight months, among other things, two weeks after the continental championship.
