Tokyo shares slip in morning ahead of Fed's policy meeting

Tokyo shares edged down Tuesday morning as market awaited the results of a U.S. Federal Reserve policy meeting set to be held later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 29.46 points, or 0.15 percent, from Monday to 19,125.57.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 1.30 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,530.13.

Decliners were led by insurance, marine transportation and machinery issues. Endit
