Czech police arrest suspected perpetrators in armed robberies

Xinhua, December 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Czech police arrested suspected perpetrators in three armed robberies of luxury stores in Prague city center, from which they robbed jewels worth 34 million crowns (about 1.34 million U.S. dollars), the police said on Monday.

The suspects are members of two different international gangs, and they face up to 15 years in prison, according to Prague police officers at a press conference.

The first robbery case concerns a jewellery shop in Siroke Street in Prague city center in December 2012. Three robbers took away watches, bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

Two of them have been arrested in Munich where they were preparing for another robbery and the third one is wanted internationally.

The two other robbery cases concern another international gang of jewellery thieves. Police said this gang robbed a jewellery store in 2014 and a luxurious watch store earlier in 2016 in Prague. Endit
