Shuttler stars ready for Dubai World Superseries Finals

Xinhua, December 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Denmark's star shuttler Jan O Jorgensen, Olympic silver medalist duo Chai Biao/Hong Wei from China and Japan's Olympic women's double champions Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi are among the top seeds at the upcoming Badminton World Federation (BWF)'s Dubai World Superseries Finals which returns to Dubai for the third year straight.

Briefing the media earlier on Monday after the BWF held the draw for the tournaments, world No.1 Jorgensen said he will try his best in this tournament "but I will also enjoy myself as Dubai is a great place for the BWF Superseries Finals."

Chai Biao from China told Xinhua that he and his partner Hong Wei were "well prepared" to win the title here.

The two 26-year-old Chinese shuttlers finished the 2015 Finals as runners-up in the men's doubles challenges.

On the upcoming first round which will kick off on Wednesday, Chai said it was "not ideal" that another Chinese duo, Lu Junhui and Liu Yuchen, were in the same Group B.

Takahashi said, "After winning the Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, it was difficult to re-motivate myself. But meanwhile my partner Misaki Matsutomo are back in full swing and we plan to win the ladies doubles."

"Every match is like a battle. Misaki and I always consider every tournament as an Olympic challenge," the defending champion added.

In the women's singles challenge, Tai Tzu-Ying from Chinese Taipei aims to defend her title here. Endit
