Ukraine, Lithuania ink roadmap for strategic cooperation in 2017-2018

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his visiting Lithuanian counterpart Dalia Grybauskaite here on Monday signed a roadmap for strategic cooperation between the two countries in next two years, said Ukrainian presidential press service.

"This document is a meaningful and clear plan for our bilateral interaction," Poroshenko told reporters during a joint press conference with Grybauskaite after their talks.

Poroshenko voiced his hope that the action plan, which covers diverse fields, including energy, ecology, healthcare and other sectors, will intensify all-round cooperation between the two countries.

In particular, Lithuania can become a platform for Ukraine-made goods to enter the European market, Poroshenko said.

For her part, Grybauskaite noted a progress Kiev has made in implementing economic reforms, pledging a continued support for Ukraine on its path towards closer relations with the European Union.

"We are seeking a final decision on a visa-free regime for Ukrainians enabling people of Ukraine to travel freely to Europe," Grybauskaite said.

Grybauskaite arrived in Kiev earlier in the day for a one-day working visit dedicated to the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Ukraine and Lithuania. Endit
