Albania applies new standards for adventure travel safety

Adventure travel in Albania will be conducted based on clearly defined standards so that it meets the needs of tourists but most of all ensures their safety, sources from the Albanian ministry of economic development and tourism said Friday.

To this effect, the General Directorate of Standardization, which falls under the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship, published a new standard for adventure travel, safety management systems.

The main goal of this standard is to define the minimum requirements on safety management system for the subjects that provide service on adventure travel.

The risk management process is an essential part of the safety system that ensures continuous improvement and contributes on the localization of sites for safe adventure sports, according to the new standard.

The subjects that want to be certified by Albanian or international companies have to meet all the conditions of this standard, the ministry said.

According to Albanian officials, the introduction of the new standard is important for increasing the number of tourists that love adventure sports and activities. Endit
