European lawmakers OK 856,800 euros in job search aid to Spain

The European Parliament's committee on budgets approved a proposal on Thursday to grant Spain 856,800 euros (908,812 U.S dollars) in aid to help 250 former car workers find new jobs.

The workers were made redundant by firms that were making motor vehicle parts in the Valencia region.

The bankruptcy and closure of the company Bosal S.A. made redundant most of the workers. Its core business was the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles.

Bosal declared bankruptcy on Jan. 15, 2015 and made its entire workforce of 215 redundant in November that year. It had been in difficulty since 2012, due to the European automotive industry's declining output and significant loss of market share over the past decade. Endit
