Bulgaria's industrial production index rises in October

Bulgaria's Industrial Production Index (IPI) in October rose by 2.8 percent year on year, and by 0.3 percent compared to September, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Thursday.

Preliminary NSI data showed that on an annual basis, October's IPI increased in the mining and quarrying industry by 8.8 percent, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 3.5 percent, and by 1.7 percent in manufacturing.

In manufacturing, the most significant increases compared to October 2015 were seen in computer, electronic and optical products (15.2 percent), and in the manufacture of basic metals (13.7 percent), the NSI said.

Meanwhile, the highest decreases were recorded in the manufacture of transport equipment (27.1 percent) and tobacco products (19.2 percent).

On a monthly basis, the IPI in October increased in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 1.9 percent, 0.5 percent in the mining and quarrying industry, while manufacturing saw a decrease of 0.5 percent, the NSI said. Endit
