The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Thursday:

-- Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane said Wednesday the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) ignored six of her predecessor's eight remedial actions following findings against the public broadcaster in a 2014 report.

Mkhwebane was addressing Parliament's ad hoc committee looking into the fitness of the SABC board. (News24)

-- CEOs believe the rand's recent gains will be short-lived and expect the local unit to depreciate even further, according to the Merchantec CEO Confidence Index.

The forward-looking index, released on Wednesday, declined 2.1 percent for the fourth quarter of 2016. It is now below the neutral score line of 50, at 47.9. (Fin24)
