A daylight robbery occurred with a private fashion shop in Myanmar's busy downtown Yangon Wednesday afternoon with an unidentified man taking away some jewelries and money from the shop by threatening a young woman shopkeeper with sharp knife, local media reported Thursday.
The 17-year woman shopkeeper from the Stylish Fashion shop on the 38th Street, Kyauktada township, was pinned with knife when she was alone in the shop and was beaten and dragged to the bathroom where she was shut up.
The jewelries items, which she put on her hands, were stripped with some money of the shop taken away by the robber before he ran away.
CCTV camera record installed in the street is being based to urgently hunt the robber, police said.
The criminal case happened three days after a staff of a money changer shop in Sanchaung township of the commercial capital city had been similarly robbed at gun point in broad daylight in the weekend.
The staff from M.S. Group Money Changer on Shangon Street in the township was robbed by two masked customers with 15 million kyats and some 15,000 U.S. dollars.
After the incident, the robbers ran out of the changer shop with bags of money on their shoulders and on their way to escape, gunshot took place, the security guard said.
The police is making investigation into both robbery cases. Enditem
